One village in the west, Eglwyswrw, endured rain for 84 days straight – just six days short of a British wet weather record.
But they’ve just had a day of sun.
Workers in the farming village said they were becoming miserable and claimed the rain had even made their livestock depressed.
But some were eyeing their own place in the history books – and were
willing to keep their brollies up for just five more days and equal the
record set in 1923.
Farmer John Davies said: ‘Tuesday was due to be the 85th day of consecutive rain but we have had none.
‘We were so close to the record but it seems we have fallen at the final furlong.
Mr Davies, who is also a Pembrokeshire Councillor, added: ‘There is a suggestion that we all go out and do a rain dance!’
