Court remands apprentice in prison for alleged rape

A Chief Magistrate's Court in Osogbo, Osun State, has ordered that a 22-year-old tailoring apprentice, Kehinde Odelola, be remanded at Ilesa Prison for allegedly raping his lover, Miss Tawa Muritala.
The 20-year-old victim was said to have been lured into the room of the accused person.
The incident happened on August 30, 2013, at the Ilesa Garage area of Osogbo.
The Police Prosecutor, Mr. Elisha Olusegun, said the action was a violation of Section 357 and was punishable under Sections 358 and 360 of the Criminal Code, Cap 34, Vol. II, Laws of Osun State of Nigeria, 2003.
The charges read in part, "That you Odetola Kehinde on 30th August, 2013, at 5.30pm at Ilesa Garage, Osogbo, in Osogbo Magisterial District, did have unlawful carnal knowledge of one Tawa Muritala, aged 20 years"
The accused person pleaded not guilty.
Chief Magistrate Mohammed Lasisi ordered that Odelola be remanded at the Ilesa Prison.
