Amaechi remains suspended
The Peoples Democratic Party has said the Governor of Rivers State, Mr. Rotimi Amaechi, remains suspended from the pay.
The party also said it recognises Mr. Tony Nwoye as its governorship candidate for the November 16 governorship election in Anambra State.
Acting National Secretary of the party, Dr. Charles Akitoye, stated this while speaking at the mini convention of the party.
Akitoye, who was giving the secretariat report since he assumed office on June 20 following the resignation of some members of the National Working Committee of the party, insisted that discipline must be maintained in the party.
He said, "Governor Rotimi Amaechi was suspended due to anti-party activities and the suspension subsists. We have to maintain discipline in the party if we must move forward."
On Anambra State, he said the governorship primary that produced Nwoye was the one recognised by the party.
He said the parallel primary, which was conducted by Mr. Ejike Oguebego , was not known to the party.
The unrecognised primary produced Sen. Andy Uba as the party's flag bearer for the election.
Akitoye said the party was unable to elect a substantive national secretary due to the court case, which he said stopped the party from doing so.
He also said because of the case, it was not possible to elect officers of the party from the zone and therefore, only statutory delegates from the zone voted at the convention.
